2,659 Miles Away: Long Distance Relationships Are Still A Thing
Nicki and Steph first connected over Skype 10 months before Nicki and David tied the knot at Paradise Cove on Oahu. Steph and Nicki developed a friendship and connection in an instant – their friendship covering a distance of 2,659 miles, as Nicki and David were planning their big destination wedding from the Marshall Islands. Together, they managed to put together their dream wedding that would include friends and family from the Marshall Islands, Taiwan and Mainland U.S. Over the course of the year, Nicki had many ideas for her wedding celebrations that Steph was able to use to execute their wedding day, including color palette, floral ideas and how to make the night as splendid as possible.
The distance did bring some challenges, but none that were impossible to overcome. The couple was able to regularly keep in touch with Steph through text message, email and Skype – thank goodness for technology! Ordering and shipping dresses to the Bridesmaids – who were in Taiwan and the Marshall Islands – was also not easy due to limited shipping options. Fun fact: there are no bridal shops in the Marshall Islands! But together, Nicki and Steph were able to choose Bridesmaids dresses, a dress for the Groom's mom, and even the Bride's wedding gown, and have them shipped directly to O‘ahu. The team at Magnolia White was able to perfectly alter Nicki's dress in less than three days. The day-of team was lead by Steph, Aileen, Jessica, Maria and Kevin.
